I believe I have finally gotten somewhere! I finished my first plugin, and it seems to work well. I have now released puniconf as version 0.99! The preferences work now, and there have been a couple of changes in the API routines, mainly involving Gtk2::GladeXML. So download it now!

It has been a long road since I last updated this site and project. Believe me when I say that I have been working very diligently on this project. It has taken most of my time. I stopped briefly to move and to create a content management suite, called SaMS, in order to better maintain my web sites while I was 'on the road'. (This site is now run by SaMS!)

During the last 6 months, I have broken off development for just FluxBox, and gone to perfecting pUniConf's plugin API.

Yes! You heard right! As you may have noticed, the name of this project has been changed to pUniConf, because I found there is another program which exists with the name fbconfig (an X11 frame buffer configuration program). pUniConf stands for perl Unix Configurator.

I believe most of the bugs I have run into from Perl-Gtk2 have been resolved, and development will be a lot smoother now. Make sure you update Perl-Gtk2 to the latest version. See the API docs for info on which versions I use.

Some changes to note about puniconf:

  • Uses libglade-2.0 UI files
  • Plugin API Namespace changed to puniconf::

I am trying to find a workaround for the Gtk2::TreeModel. I can find no way to test for the end of a treenode without changing the current iter. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know.

I started my Sourceforge project yesterday and will be working on this site all day. It should be finished by tomorrow or Saturday. Until then, take a look at some screenshots, or go to the sf.net project page.
